Found a weird Les Paul Classic in GC... can't ID it off the Gibson site.

I found a Les Paul Classic in Guitar Center that was real interesting... it was your run of the mill LP Classic except that it had no maple top (mahogany throughout, rosewood board), a satin finish all around, and was VERY light for an LP. Sounded awesome, too. Very resonant. The Gibson logo looked a little different though... like it was between the modern logo and THIS in shape.

I can't find a model like this on the Gibbo website and this was a NEW Genuine Gibson, not a fake. It had a SKU tag and everything. I didn't ask any employees what it was and when I went back the next day to find it again it was gone.

Any idea what specific model that was?

Thats the Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique with Mahogany Top...it's one of a Guitar of the Week model #33 from September 2007, it's a limited edition of 400. If you want to be sure thats it check it out again...those all are supposed to have push/pull pots on the tone controls.

There were 2 or 3 of them at the locl GS last year but thats the last time I saw one.
Here is a little blurb I found on the net about it...

I totally dig that guitar but it has a very thin neck profile. I was dying to get my hands on it. I had to go into Rudy's in NYC to play one. The guitar sounded great, like an all mahogany LP should but the neck was just to 60's style for my hands.

That's it!!!

I like the 60's necks, but then again I have kind of small hands too. I can get around OK on a thicker-necked LP but it makes my hand get awful cramps after about a 1/2 hour.
