Found zebra bobbins under my Seth Lover cover, yay!

Just wanted to share my excitement. I got a shop floor custom Seth Lover Trembucker in Zebra off Ebay, and a "generic" covered SL for the neck. I took the cover off and yay, zebra underneath!

Also, for those of you who have swapped magnets in your Seths, what are your favorites? I'll try the stock mags of course, but I was thinking of trying out A4 or UOA5 for a little more output and tighter bottom end. Sometimes I find A2 to mushy.

To me, it is perfect as is. Other magnets take more away from this wind.

Double thick A2.

What's the story with double thick magnets? I see them talked about on here but I've never seen anywhere selling them. Where do you get them? Do you have to mod the pickup to make them fit? What's the sound difference?

I used to not like vintage bridges because of the low output and brittle sound but I gave one another chance with the double thick mag and it sounds epic!! Double thick mags increase the output and make the pup sound deeper. You have to doctor the pup to get the mag in but not really mod it. It's an easy process. All you need are spacers. One source is cermag. I'm trying to start my own distribution op if someone will tell me how to magnetize mags.

My favorite Seth mag swap is to use a pair of neck models, and load up the bridge position one with an A4. I find the wind of the Seth bridge too thick for my taste, so I like using a neck wind there instead. But it lacks some output, hence the swap to A4 to help it along. You can also replace the neck A2 with an A3, if you want to tame the neck pickup a bit as well.

My Seth Lovers came with stock polished A2 and my Antiquitys came with roughcast A2. If you're going to swap magnets go roughcast.

I have three PRS SE Singlecuts.

One has double cream Seth Lovers with the stock polished alnico 2 magnets.

The other two have Antiquitys. One with roughcast Alnico 4 and the other with roughcast Alnico 3 in the neck and roughcast alnico 2 in the bridge.

The one with roughcast Alnico 4 is my favorite, followed by the one with RCA3 and RCA2, and the one with the stock Seth Lovers with stock polished A2's is #3.

All three sound wonderful but the one with RCA4 is absolutely my favorite.
