Four new recordings, FEAT Krankguitarist on guitars and vocals

This is the rough demo from my band, The Nescient. I'd still like to do some overdubs, and completely re-do the vocal tracks.

I know, I'm not the greatest vocalist in the world. I'm taking lessons and practicing my ass off though, so I can get better ;).

Our bassist mixed and mastered these. He did a good job for the most part, but there's some weird stuff going on on a few of the tracks. I Think he only used my second guitarist's take for the lead in the bridge of Ebbb, cause it's not played like how I play it. Dammit.

So, check em out!

Ebbb - Vocal track, Party metal. Complete with trade-off guitar solo.

autumndreams - Vocal track, depressing alt-metal

The Nescient - instrumental track, for the time being. Prog metal

Fear, Fury, and Frustration - Vocal track, Angry metal

cool, I checked out F, F, F quickly at work. I'll have to listen later louder or through phones. I was expecting screamcore vocals, but I was pleasantly surprised by real singing!

Cool man! Checked out the first track. Your vocals are fine it's the mixing that isn't up to par.

Dan, this music is monstrously EXCELLENT!!! I'm digging this a lot more than the latest Metallica offering, by far. And for the record, your vocals absolutely kill. I'd love to have a voice like that.

Great riff writing!

I listened to Ebbb, and half of The Nescient.

I don't like the way the snare is mixed tho. Needs some muffling when you recorded it and needs some punch in the mix.

Re: Four new recordings, FEAT Krankguitarist on guitars and vocals

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the whole growl/scream/yell heavy metal vocal style, but I prefer to use it sparingly in my own material. Hell, I've only started to explore that part of my voice within the last two or so months.

Thanks for the complements as well, it means a lot to me :). I'm my own worst critic, and I've still got A LOT that I'd like to improve on my vocals, but I'm putting a lot of effort into getting those up to par.

As for the mixing...there's several things going on that I'm not really crazy about. I wasn't part of the mixing process...I should have been...but I was too busy to head down to my bassist's house to do this stuff. One thing that kinda bugs me is that it seems like the vocals are panned off to the side...the vocals! Among other things. But I agree...the mix needs some work.

My favorite out of the group is "The Nescient", I wanna write more songs like that. I got a couple more in the works.

Re: Four new recordings, FEAT Krankguitarist on guitars and vocals

hey Ive been quite busy lately, on many levels. but I came out of hiding to comment.

I remember ur threads on singing. So I was looking forward to hearing how it would turn out. Im pleasantly suprised! I dont like listening to screaming/yelling so there u go. Its so hard to find a good singer, and ur plausable enough, better than alot of local singers. I already heard ur guitars for those songs so I was previously impressed with that. Im not gonna say I like it more than my new metallica cd or anything but its great! Ill leave the constructive criticism for later.

Keep it up, and enjoy the "music high" - that high on life feeling - keep it up! :)

In the "good news" department: A good friend, of whom many of us know, and is loads more skilled than I is re-mixing The Nescient.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it sounds when he gets done with it :).

Good work guys! I some wierd stuff maybe in places, good overall... if you'd put a lil more time into the mixing this would be album ready I think!
