Fralin P90s

I've got a mahogany LP copy (no maple top) with hot ceramic P90's, and I'm thinking about getting some Fralins for it. However, since I've never played good P90s, besides a Phat Cat neck, I don't know what percent of over/underwinds to get.

I'm going to call Fralin, but I wanted to get y'all's opinion too.

I'm mainly using a Blues Jr. amp with the occasional Tube Screamer or Bad Monkey in front.

I'm not a fan of Leslie West's super thick and buttery tone or Freddie King's early thin, tinny tone. I love the Beatles P90 tones, though.

I guess I'm after a Kenny Burrell type of tone when playing softly, with bluesy grit and bite when digging in.

Suggestions?

Re: Fralin P90s

i would get either a 10% underwound neck, so 9000 turns, and 5% over, 10500 turn bridge or a 15% under neck and stock bridge

Re: Fralin P90s

p90, thats what gibson did back in the day. a vintage strat pup would have 7600-8400 turns depending on the year, a tele about 8000, a p bass would have about 10,000

Re: Fralin P90s

I have a Blues P90 from them and it is by far the best sounding P90 I have heard. I also like the SD Custom P90.

Re: Fralin P90s

Fralins are better for what you are looking for tonewise than most other aftermarket P90s---Lindy plays Western Swing and some jazz and he knows the sound.
