Fralin Spit Singles!!

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

Cool idea. I wonder what the effect of the opposing magnetic fields are on the D and G strings? I mean, all normal buckers do this, but the effect is the same across all strings on those, instead of just on the 2 middle strings.

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

I asked about these a while back. Seems that no-one had tried them. I wonder if Lew has had the chance to try them yet?

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

I'm very interested in these as well. I suspect I'd want a reverse version for the neck pickup so the poles for the 1st/2nd/3rd strings are closer to the neck, but I'd like to hear how it sounds as is first.

I think the D and G poles are far enough apart to where if there's any of that slight "bucker-esque" phase canceling, it's negligible.

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

Isn't this just a take off on the Seth Lover Tele pickups of the 70's? They were brighter than a humbucker and fatter than a single coil.

I thought that the Fralins were more along the lines of a P style pickup wired in parallel.

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

I guess I am not sure if the original seth lover pickups on the 70's teles were parallel or series?

Re: Fralin Spit Singles!!

I thought the Lovers were actual full humbuckers, just with Cunife magnetic poles instead of screws with magnets beneath. But there were still 12 poles per bucker.

If I understand right, these are actually only 6 poles. Half of the pup is RWRP from the other half. Do I err?

From what I understand, you have it right.
