Free Gig Bag My Butt

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

you can buy a knockoff tweed case for you guitar for not a whole lot more.

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

When did this whole "Gig-Bag Revolution" take off anyway? I still prefer a nice, HSC, over a gig-bag, anyday. Especially when your drunk roadies are packing the monitors on top of your axe, at 2a.m. I need a little more protection, than whats offered by a gig-bag, I guess...

While I agree with you, I know there are plenty of gigging musicians that prefer gig bags with expensive instruments. I know "boutique" instrument builders that use gig bags.

I don't trust them. I have a Tele in a gig bag, and it's had a tuner bent and a pot broken from not being protected in a case.

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

IMO if you don't care to protect your guitar with a hsc, you deserve anything that happens to it. Gig bags are a joke, I don't care how convenient they are.
It rings me that some guitar makers sell you a $2000 guitar, then give you a gig bag to put it in.

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

I'l go against the gig bag hating. I haven't transported guitars in a HSC in about 3.5 years. I took my PRS on four flights to/from NGW in a gig bag. :p

But then again, not all gig bags are created equal. I'm pretty fond of my Incase slim bag. I wouldn't be so confident with a garden variety bag.

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

I think some of you missed the point of this post. It wasn't the gig bag. It was that musiciansfriend felt they could charge $80 for a FREE gig bag.

Re: Free Gig Bag My Butt

ahh this is for the Boomerang- Id wait a bit on it anyway, as a new version is coming out this winter, which is half the size but has a lot more features. It is a great looping box (one of the best for live improvisational loops), but I bet the new one will be loads better.

btw, I use a gig bag to take my guitar back and forth to lessons, and it works great. If I throw it in the van with all of the other equip for a gig, it goes in a hard case. They both serve different purposes.
