The 2014 melody makers just dropped to $450 which was kind of my magic number. I travel a lot for work and rack up travel rewards points. I cashed a bunch in a while back for Amazon gift cards cause I just find them more useful than trying to book flights using miles which is a major pain in the ass. Plus..........I knew I could turn those into a guitar purchase at some point.
I had close to $350 in Amazon cards plus I have my Citi Visa linked up to my Amazon account which turns my cashback points into Amazon credits. I had about $100 in credits on that. Plus eBates is offering 8% cashback on musical instrument purchases through Amazon.
The $350 in Amazon cards plus $100 in Citi points took care of the purchase price and the 8% cashback took care of the tax.
My net cost...........$0 for a new Melody Maker from Sam Ash via Amazon.
I'm freakin stoked! This plus the Les Paul Trad Pro II I just got on the cheap is making this a very Gibson holiday season for me.
I am done for a while. I hope. Or I'll be in real trouble.
On the flip-side, I'm going to Chicago next week and stopping by Chicago Music Exchange which is the best guitar store ever by a long ways in terms of set-up and selection. Could be bad.
Melody Maker will show-up to the house while I'm in Chicago. Hurrah!
