Fret buzz

I bought this guitar about 4-5 months ago. About a month after i got it i realized around the 14th fret and up tons of fret buz and same dead notes. It didnt bother me much cuz i used to not really play on those higher frets. It recently got very annoying to me so today i tried everything to get rid of it. The only thing that worked was to have my action waaaaay high. And this was more annoying than the buzz. Anybody know what the prooblem could be i think maybe its the frets themselves but i dont know. O and i have gotten a proffesional setup done before with the same results.

Re: Fret buzz

Pro set up? really? and you still get buzz? could you give us more details?

I'll say prematurely: sounds like you need your frets dressed/leveled.

Re: Fret buzz

It maybe a raised heel.

If this guitar is a bolt on, try the following: loosen the screws that hold the neck and the body together. screw them back in until snug, and stop.

you want to screw them just until they start getting tight, no more. JUST ENOUGH. google fender hump.

Re: Fret buzz

Chances are the tech set the action and intonation only, and did not adjust the truss rod.
Or there's a shim under the heel.

Re: Fret buzz

No decent luthier would let a guitar leave his shop with that kind of fret buzz.

Take it to somebody else.

Re: Fret buzz

I am gonna agree with some of the previous comments. If my guitar buzzed after taking it to my tech... I would be finding a new tech... even if there is a hump in the neck, he should be able to diagnose the problem and tell you about it even if he can't fix it... no guitar would leave my tech's shop with a buzz that severe...

Re: Fret buzz

I got the guitar setup at sam ash. When i bought the guitar i also got 8 free setups one of which i used already. But i have no idea what they actually did.
