Fret marker dots

Okay I have a project question...

The Fret marker dots... Not the ones on the fretboard, but the ones on the binding on the top edge that you look down on when you are playing.

Where do you get those? And what are they? A decal? Paint dot?

How do you Builders do them?

Re: Fret marker dots

Ive used a very thin plastic rod on cigar box guitars that you just drill a small hole, press in and shave off/ sand level but not sure if that is what is normally used.

Re: Fret marker dots

Plastic rod is often what is used. Its either 2mm or 2.5mm thick. Drill hole, insert, clip then level sand.
You need a luthier type store, LMII, Stewmac etc for the 'official' stuff. But if you can find something else convenient then I don't think it matters

You can also perhaps use a glue/sawdust mix and jam that into any size hole you want, or even a builders putty.....which is not too dissimilar to Fender Clay dots
