It's time to put up my last pine Esquire I have for the time being. My Blonde one possibly is sold (sale pending, hopefully) so I'm going to try this one here too. If I didn't have to sell it, I wouldn't as it's a great player and has that great broken in feel. Looks like a well loved but used old Esquire and the neck's super smooth and fast.
I know relic's aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I feel that this one is extremely accurate in regards to a vintage piece. Consider it somewhere between medium and heavier relicing.
The guitar plays excellent and has a nice clear tone. It weighs 6 lbs total.
Specs of the guitar are as follows:
-2 piece white pine body, total vintage construction (blunted control cavity, vintage routes, offset ferrule holes, etc). Finished in black nitro and clear nitro, no grain filler and no primer coat (granin shows prominantly through as if the finish has "settled")
-Neck is a Warmoth total vintage construction, boatneck profile, 6130 fret size (medium jumbo).
-Vintage Vibe pickup, new construction style!
**The pickup Pete's making now comes with 2 interchangable baseplates. One is steel, one is copper. You simply unscrew the one you have on and screw on the new one. Currently, this guitar is fitted with the steel plates as per the original pine protos.... but will include the copper plate in case the new owner would like to swap. The steel plates adds a great tonal quality. ** Pickup has center hole added and has been laquered.
-Gotoh Kluson style tuners
-Fender AV 52 RI round top knobs, nice knurl
-Fender RI 3 saddle bridge plate fitted with Stew Mac compensated brass saddles.
-Fender ashtray cover
-Genuine 50's Dakaware Pat Pend batelite barrel switchtip
-round string tree retainer
-oval head slotted screws throughout
-handmade white single-ply pickguard
-CTS pots, Mallory capacitors, vintage style cloth pushback wire.
-Brian Poe/ Hi Tech Tool milled jack cup
Please check out all the photos and if you'd like to see additioinal pics, I'd be happy to take and post them. It's very hard to capture the nuances of some of the aging (horizontal checking lines on the headstock and neck, faint checking and denting on the body, etc) so I'd be more than happy to take more outside photos with might show all the aging and blending of wear better.
Guitar comes with an aged G and G Fender tweed case.
Price is $1000 or best offer , plus shipping. I have to pay off tuition( my last semester! woohoo) so I'd like to sell this as soon as possible. If things were different, I'd be asking a lot more.
Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.
