FS: PRS McCarty Soapbar Standard

Up for sale is an excellent condition PRS McSoap Standard. For the record, there are no dings on the guitar, but there is a small scuff at the edge of the longer horn on the headstock as shown in a picture below. I apologize in advance for some of the pictures; my camera isn't the greatest and I'm not a pro photographer, so you'll see some weird reflections of light in some of the pics, some weird spots, etc. This is a used guitar and it does have light superficial scratches that can only be seen up close under bright lights like all used guitars do. One last thing to add is while I was polishing up the guitar to prepare it for getting sold, the "l" in "Paul" on the headstock got removed (apparently, Paul doesn't like securing his logos well on his guitars). Unless you look closely, the headstock looks great, but for those that are detail oriented, it is indeed missing a letter. I have price adjusted it accordingly.

For those that don't know, this particular model is discontinued and probably won't get offered again. The guitar has a beautiful dark cherry finish to it and it's transparent - you can see the wood grain through it. It has an all mahogany body (instead of the current maple cap ones) with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard... perfect doublecut LP Special specs. Weight wise it's exactly 7.8 lbs., so it's no feather, but it's not a boat anchor either. As one would expect, there is absolutely no fret buzz, dead frets, playability or sound issues whatsoever. The fret life is still very strong on this one and it has been played gently. It's a resonant guitar with good sustain (due in part to the wraparound tailpiece and beefy body and neck). Sounds better than the two historic Gibsons I've owned in the past - a '61 SG Custom and '60 LP Special DC. She’s recently gotten polished up and the fretboard has been freshly oiled as well as freshly restrung with D’Addarios so this one'll arrive looking good.

If this guitar is so great, why am I selling it? I have a Collings 290 that I'm infatuated with and the PRS hasn't been getting the playtime it deserves. At this point, I'm simplifying my rig, so it's best to send this one to a good home. I love McCarties (I'm keeping a humbucker one as we speak), but I just don't need 2 different P90 guitars at the moment. I’m not sure what I’ll eventually decide to add to my collection, but for now I’m very happy.

This guitar comes with stock with some custom Seymour Duncan P90s. The SP-90N clocks in at 7.96k and the SP-90B is 12.56k, so the judging by the Duncan website, the output is inbetween the vintage and hot winds.

What comes with the guitar? The official hard shelled case will be included along with all the original factory PRS papers and a truss rod tool.

I'm looking for $1100 shipped (price drop!). This price also includes full insurance; please keep in mind this is for the continental US only. Any questions/concerns/interest? Shoot me an e-mail at the_seattle_rocker@hotmail.com, PM me here or respond to the thread. I welcome any and all inquiries, so let me know

I have plenty of online feedback (been wheeling and dealing gear for years now) and if anyone is interested, I'll send them a list of folks I've dealt with through TGP. I've also sold some highend items on eBay as "the-seattle-rocker" (although it has been a while). Thanks for looking!

That is an awesome deal!!! If I had the cash, I'd snag it from you so my PRS McCarty standard would have a brother. I wish they had a model with a tremolo system. Do you have the stock pickups in our other McCarty? I am curious as to if I can improve the tone of my McCarty anymore. PM me!

Re: FS: PRS McCarty Soapbar Standard

Thats a very fair price for a smokin guitar. I had one of those! I kinda miss it!

Re: FS: PRS McCarty Soapbar Standard

If I hadn't just snagged an LP this would be on my radar for sure. Someone grab this before I'm tempted to really put the hurt on Wells Fargo :laugh2:.

Do it AJ!!! How long have you wanted one? Although it's not white, it's a killer price.

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

This guitar has gotten a lot of good feedback, but no bites yet. Price is $1100 fixed. For a discontinued PRS without any dings, I don't think anyone can do any better.
