Hmmm. How would you compare this to a Bass POD (the bean), aside from having speakers and being made by another company. Better sounds? Equal? Use-both-if-I-had-both?

I have no experience with the bass POD - sorry, cannot help with the comparison. Having speakers and an audio input is great for practicing along with music without the restrictions of headphones. It has a mic setting for vocals. Also guitars sound very good clean through it. Never tried it with a dirt box in front of it, but I bet it could handle it fine.
