Re: FS Two Eminence 12" 8 OHM Red Ryder
Too bright if you ask me( the speakers-not you).
Heres pretty much waht one harmont Central guy said about these Red Ryders, and he pretty much nailed it i think;
QUOTE-The clean tones are great. No problems here.
The distorted tones, on the other hand, are bad to ok. It is so much more grittier than a classic lead 80 (CL80). Much of the grit is coming from the cone. It has about the same grit as the celestion g12h30, and is very "buzzy." When playing distorted chords, the tones become indistinct, and it starts to sound like a swarm of bees. This is not what a CL80 sounds like.
It has too much highs!!! This was prominent when played with the soldano astroverb. It was piercing. After ample break in time, it was still too prominent, adding fire tot he "swarm of bees," sound. The mid range is prominent, and helps the tone cut, but the highs were over powering. The low end is severely lacking. If I were to described it EQ characteristic, it would be: bass 3 Mid 7 Highs 9. This is horrible eq'ing, unless you like highs & no bass.
The positives: hmmm, well, it isn't as stiff as the classic lead 80. Seems to be smoother, and more forgiving. Otherwise, not a good speaker.-
