Up for consideration today we have a modded '73 Super Lead in TWEED tolex! Looks and sounds amazing but I'm always looking for something new and being a college student has me always needing a little cash
. Here's the previous owner's description of the amp from when I originally bought it:
"It's basically 2 channels, but they share the tone stack. The cleans are bright and upfront, but can be dialed in with the tone control on the guitar. It has a lead channel with it's own master, an effects loop and reverb. The channels are footswitched and the switching is by relays so its dead quiet. Its set up for 6550's but can take 34's too with a re-bias. Trannies are original Drakes. The amp is voiced a lot fatter than most Marshalls with 6550's. In case the footswitch is lost, there is a pull pot on the lead pre to switch channels. The controls are pretty interactive and it can growl or be smooth. Very versatile for a Marshall. Its a monster. No kidding. I have over 2k in it. And this thing definitely smokes any Bray or Cameron mod I've had.
A total thump in the butt type tone, sustain for days, and more thump than almost any Marshall Ive heard. It's not heavy metal gain, but think JCM 800 on serious steroids when you need. Thanks to the 100 watts it's also got a good bit of clean headroom. Take a look at the work, its totally immaculate, and trouble-free, but it's a no-name mod, sorry."
No joke this amp is pretty awesome. The reverb sounds great(accutronics tank instead of some no namer or digital reverb) unlike a lot of the reverb on Marshalls. The only issue that's come up is that the fan broke when the amp was shipped to me. Probably a $25 fix but I never got around to it cause it worked fine(but hot) without it.
The Skinny:
Since the economy is down I'd put the trade value on this at $1500 or so. I think that's about fair but I'm not trying to rip anyone here so feel free to PM me if you feel otherwise. I'm looking for partial trades on a tube amp(combo maybe
) with AMAZING clean tones. Like drop dead gorgeous tones. Subjective, of course, but that means no crummy crate offers please
I don't have any money so please no offers requiring cash on my end. I can ship(prefer local but I will) and I pack VERY well, like for the apocalypse well.
The Double Skinny:
Trade Value = 1500. Looking for amazing cleans on a tube amp(lonestar, fender, vox, you get the idea.) I NEED cash out of it. If someone wants to buy it outright, well that's fine too.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at brettchilds@sbcglobal.net or call me at 805.216.6791. Thanks for looking!
