FT: Suhr SSH+ for...

I love this pickup, and it's incredibly fun to play, it just doesn't have enough bottom end for my tastes. It's in perfect condition and comes in the original box. Zebra, tremspaced (in a hardtail axe, works just fine).

I'd be willing to trade it for any of the following (+ a little cash, depending):

Duncan:
-Custom
-Custom 8
-Alternative 8
-Crazy 8
-PATB-2
-El-Diablo
-BroBucker

DiMarzio:
-D-Activator
-Steve Morse bridge
-Steve's Special

EMG:
-89
-81TW
-S or SA + more cash

Black or zebra, trem or standard spaced - doesn't matter!

Re: FT: Suhr SSH+ for...

I have never used any of the "Steve" lines of Dimarzio, but when I emailed them they said the Steve's Special was the closest thing to the Megadrive currently in production and I can neither confirm nor deny this. The Megadrive is black, four conductor and has around 7 inches of lead left.

This would be a trade for one pickup right? The SSH being the model designation of the pickup? What would you compare the SSH to in terms of output and tone? If there would be money added I would rather sell the Megadrive.

Thank You
Snowdog

Re: FT: Suhr SSH+ for...

Trade for one pickup, yeah, model is SSH+. It's about as hot as a JB, maybe a touch hotter feeling though, at 17khz. Really tight and focused feeling, modern voiced, with a good bit of compression. Very 'bouncy' feel to it, and it's easily the 'funnest' pickup to play out of the many I've played. Also, without a doubt, the most clear and defined pickup I've ever played. The amount of detail and clarity that this thing puts out under high gain and fast playing still amazes me!

The reason I said money added is because DiMarzio's run ~$70 new, and the SSH+ is ~$105 new. That, and the Megadrive has been discontinued for a while, so I'm sure it's conditions isn't exactly 'brand new.'

Well I could use some money to complete current projects, more than I want the Suhr pickup for future projects. So I would consider $40 shipped for the Megadrive. I got it as NOS in 2005 and I figure the minute I installed it in anything I have lost half its value. I know you would like a trade with some cash but that's not going to work for me, so let me know.
