1. lately ive really been into higher gain pickups and putting A8 mags in them,
last one im interested in trying is the Full Shred. never played one, and ive read about 20 pages of forums and most say "its has great articulation, not alot of low end, better for leads and its not extremely hot but just right were it can clean up, not as great for heavy rhythms."
would you all agree with this general census?
i know opeth uses the full shred for rhythm, its heavy but you can tell its not overly thumpy bass which has its purpose but not for the stuff opeth sounds like.
if i throw a A8 mag in there do you think it will be overly hairy or sizzly? the closest thing probably in my assumption would be a JB8, but what i dont like about the JB8 is its relationship with my amp which is a DSL100, its a little bright and really accentuates the upper mids, so the JB8 just screams with it a little too much.
i seen the Full Shred is 4/4/8 which means to me the mids are tamed and probably going to be alot smoother on this amp. i love how this amp thumps with the bass and if the FS8 is right it could be my holy grail tone for this setup. cause honestly i havent found it quite yet. C8 is good but kinda has a hairy feel to the low strings though downright amazing lead tone the best ive ever heard maybe, the palm mutes compress alot and it doesnt pump bass like the JB8 does, so maybe the FS or FS8 may be it for me. my playing is balanced, i play heavy rhythms then fly on up and shred leads. i dont think i could ever live without the bass that an A8 mag creates...
2. another thing do they sell double thick magnets? or do you have to steal one out of a pickup that comes with one?
and
3. if your pickup isnt designed for a double thick mag will the pickup not clamp down right again? like too big of a mag for it?
4. would you guys say a stock JB is brighter than a stock Full shred or vice versa? dont need extra bright, amp does that already.
i know the only way ill ever know is if i buy it and play it on my rig but alot of the time what so many people say cant be wrong.
"when so many people are telling you the same things it stupid not to listen to them" i believe in the mass knowledge on this forum.
