Full shred 8

i was interested in buying a Full shred to put an A8 mag in, to get alittle more lower-midrange chunk out of. what i want to knw is, will the FS still keep its singing upper-mid/high quality?

Re: Full shred 8

Oh yeah. The low mids and mids will become more pronounced, while the upper end will remain strong and tight. But....the PuP will also take on this meaner...angrier tone. Hard to describe it until you hear it...but its almost like its screaming at you the whole time. To me...and I've posted this before...A8 mags have this midrange thing going on you'll either love or hate. I had my A8 Full Shred in for about a month, but preferred the stocker better. I overcame the lack of low and low mids by using an EQ in the loop. Fricken wall shaker after that in my VHT FB!!!

BAM BAM BAM - THREAD RESSURECTION :P

So who else has experience with the FS8? :) I'm looking at something that can do some nice articulate chugga chugga. Sam Totman (Dragonforce) uses an Evolution and I quite like his rhythm tone. But I'm really considering the FS8, somewhere between alnico5 and ceramic tightness, treble cut a bit (as many people complain about brightness). Might be just what I need?

Yikes...it was over 2 years when I wrote that..

I just discovered the Dimarzio Crunch Lab...its what I'd say the FS should have been. Bigger bottom...more open mids...highs that cut but are not piercing. Total win. I'd highly suggest CL over the FS or FS8...

Re: Full shred 8

I've tried this. I didn't like it one bit -- maybe it just didn't suit the guitar (schecter c1) but it had waaay too many mids, to the point of sounding sort of choked/muffled. Not enough high end, and the overall sound lacked definition. I wanted to like it at first, but I can't recommend this pickup in good conscience.

That doesn't sound like either the FS8 or CL. FS8 is like a flamethrower...CL is very balanced and open. Sounds like just not a match for your guitar.

Mike...just buy a damn CL. Put the bar towards the bridge. You're probably not gonna find someone who has your same guitar and rig...and plays like you.

Mustaine, not bothered bout rigs just looking for something with tight bass and smooth highs. Will prob buy a fs and d sonic and sell the spare

Never tried a crunch lab -- was talking specifically about the fs8. I think maybe the fs in general was a bad match for my guitar. When it had the a5 mag it had way too much treble/crunch and with the a8 it had almost none. Go figure.
