Full shred bridge

Made a trip to guitar center today. Played a Charvel Pro Mod DK24 HH with a full shred in the bridge. First time test driving the Full Shred and I liked it.

Better low end than I anticipated and the high end was softer than I anticipated-- "present" but not piercing. unlike any other Duncan bridge pickup I'd ever played, and a killer guitar too.

this wasn't a guitar I actually bought & walked out of the store with. Just took it off the shelf and plugged it in for 20 minutes.

It was a pickup with mixed opinions in the forums years ago, now that it is in Charvels everybody loves it I already ordered mine and hopefully will get it soon, I found reducing low end is what I needed for my rig, for example JB lacks definition but using an eq pedal to reduce low freqs helped a lot, Distortion bridge needs no extra eq to get clarity under high gain and pushes the amp harder.

I own one in a poplar bodied 1998 Jackson DK2.

It's a bright pickup, but I find a JB brighter, to be honest.

Definitely has a tight bass, and, to my ears, does a modern prog tone better than the Pegasus, which I tried, and hated.

But it excels at 80s hard rock / metal tones.

Will hwve to get a guitar to try the neck version, though. . Oh, bloody GAS!

I have always loved the Full Shred. To my ears its really close to a Dimarzio Evolution. The Evolution has a little more bass and is a bit more congested or hotter. But they are functionally equivalent.

Yes I know the FS is A5 and the Evo is ceramic. If the FS is too bright to your ears, the Evo is a little less bright on top.

The closest thing i've used to compare the FS to is the JB, but they arent much alike. I heard a whole lot more mids from the Full Shred than i expected to also.
