Full Shred Questions

I've got a mahogany body, quilt maple top, one piece maple necked guitar and i want to put some new pickups in it. I was thinking the screamin' demon but i don't think it has enough power. I need something with power and good for any style of music. also i like a lot of mids. Anyway, how does the Full Shred sound? Is it Versatile? is it Clean? is it Balanced? How might it sound in my guitar? How does it compare to the Demon and the Custom (which is in my other guitar, which is all maple and sounds great)? Please tell me anything else you know. Thanks.

Re: Full Shred Questions

I have a full shred set in my gibson flying v. It sounds wonderful! Neck cleans are excellent for fast jazz runs, not boomy at all. Hi gain is very defined and articulate, hard to get muddy with this pickup. Bridge cleans need some dialing work with your amp, but then very useable. The mids sound good to me. Haven't tried the others, but I'm getting a Custom soon for my les paul.

Re: Full Shred Questions

I have a Full Shred set in a Parker Mojo Flame and it sounds great. I can't say a bad word about it, but if you like prominent mids, you may want to go with a Distortion or JB, they have more mids and are still fairly balanced pups. I can't comment on a Custom, its one of the few pups I have never tried, but its a real popular choice and you already have one so you know better than I. The mids on the Full Shred are reduced a bit, and contrary to the tone chart, it isn't lacking in low end at all (the low end isn't as boomy as more traditional pups, and much tighter)

Re: Full Shred Questions

I have one in an old melody maker and it rocks like nothing else. In terms of mids, it has a cool lower mid emphasis and nice cutting, but not ice pick, highs. Clean, it is not as warm as vintage pickups, seems very clean, but for distortion it is the best, because of the clarity and detail it has.

Re: Full Shred Questions

Can anybody compare and contrast the Full Shred and C-5? I am thinking about putting one in a LP Custom, and was wondering if either would be better suited to the ebony fretboard.
