The Prophet, i'm looking your way. i read your review in the vault and it's informative. but it's pretty much worthless without any sound clips lol

i've listened the hell out of it from the SD clips and compared it to the JB. from those clips, if i can trust my ear, it seems that it's a bit fuller than the JB (has more lower mids), while still retaining the JB's upper mid clarity and responsiveness. what i'd like to know is how the low end chunk compares to the JB. leaning onto it's diferent EQ, it'll be meatier, but just as clear. the JB is tight as hell when it comes to palm mutes and i'd like to see (hear actually) in the full shred.

so, mr Prophet, can you deliver a couple of soundclips of it clean, low gain(bluesy) and high gain (modern metal.. not being confused with nu-metal. more along the lines of adrians rythm guitar on brave new world, edguy, basically power metal) would be very much apretiated.

also, who wrote that full shred neck review a bit ago? i tried to look for it, but i'm either blind or i couldnt find it. i'll keep searching, but i'd also like clips of it. i have to go and listen to the duncan sound clips and compare it to the 59 so if possible, compare it to that pup if you can.

the pup will go in a jackson DKMG or DX10D (so.. floyd, alder body, maple neck rosewood f-board)

any info will be much apretiated guys

just one thing.. how does it compare to the 59n in terms of leads? the cleans you got are amazing.
i'm liking the FS more and more.. now just for the info about the bridge and if it's favorable, i'm putting my money aside for the set

Compared to the '59N:

It has a lot less bass.
There are basically three neck pickups that everyone uses:
The 59, Jazz, and Full shred.
'59N has the most bass, Jazz has less bass, and Full shred has the least bass.

If you're going to be playing 80's metal, (I.E. Dokken, Racer X, Night Ranger) the '59 or the Jazz will do the job nicely.
The more gain you use with the 59 and the Jazz, the more they sound like crap.
Not that they sound bad, but you can't hear every note if you played through a soldano or Mesa on full gain.
That's where the Full shred comes into play.
The full shred is best used under high gain situations because it just holds together so well.
The cleans are great, too, but not as 'nice', if you will, as say a Jazz or '59; Not that it can't do cleans, but if you're only going to play only clean it might not be the right pickup for you.
From what it says in your post, I would get a Jazz because you're going to drop it in a Alder body and alder bodies are kinda birght.
I use the Full shred in both of my SGs-which are mahogany bodies-and they sound great because the wood is dark and bassy.

muchos gracias amigo.. i havent found any brightness issues with my JB in the bridge of my alder SG (maybe it's some other even more crappy wood) so i think i can cope with the glassyness of the FS. i like a little brighter sound anyway. more percussive if you will =)

i'm willing to experiment with the neck tone and the articulation and glassiness of the full shred draws me to be honest. i just want a tad bit more fatness in the bridge than the JB. the FS seems to have it, but to what extent and how does the tightness suffer from it. prophet has a FS bridge and i'd like to hear stuff from him

and i def want a matched set.. i'm not too fond of modifying my guitar modifications (and it's a pain getting replacement parts over here as is, i also dont know how a set of 12 allen poles owuld fit into the sound of the JB - so they'd at least look the same)

lets have a bump for the bridge =)

bumpage. i'd really like to know as much as possible before i make the purchase (even though it's still at least two weeks off)

from the sound clips the FS bridge clean sounds great. full but still kind of chimy in the heights, but in the JB clip you can hear the bass is tighter, more thumpy. you cant hear that in the FS, so i'd like to know if it has that similar responsiveness. but prophet says the pup really shines under high gain (again, clips of it in action are wanted) and since i'll be using it pretty much at that, it sounds right.. right? ARGH! i'm going nuts here LOL

what do you say? should i just leave it at that and order the set.. or get another JB/59 combo? but you gotta try out new stuff right? i dont know if ithey'll have the 21 day return policy... i think you people are just about sick of me =P

The resonance of the Full Shred is a lot brighter than any of the pickups you mentioned. It is really good for de-tuned riff heavy music where you want the high end to cut through. It works great for that ratty 80's LA Metal. But for faster paced palm muted music like Mettalica/Slayer it doesn't work that well because it doesn't have that low end grunt/marshall knock.

brighter than the JB? i do not think that is possible, but there are diferent views on 'bright' and i dont find it brighter at all. if anything it's a bit more beefed up JB from the soundclips.. the resonance might be diferent, but as a whole, it's not

i aint planning to use it downtuned per se, maybe once in a while for fun. soundclips would be nice to back your statement up. not saying it's wrong, but IMO, you can shape any pup the way you want, at least a little. and what you said goes directly against what prophet said.. that high gain is where it shines and it's got a nice palm mute chunk to it.

the Good News: I decided to take a peak at my PM's as I'm on holiday and won't be on the Computer at all over the next 3 weeks - So I saw this

the Bad News: I don't have any guitars with me and won't until the 13th or 14th of January. After that I may get around to recording some sample for you in the fashion you want, but I'm not making any promises

hmm, i told the guy i'll be coming around sometime after new years so it can wait a little bit.. i get my paycheck on the 11th anyway, so i cant do anything prior to that date.

i wondered where you were actually hehe, you're usually around here somewhere =)

Well if you are still desperate for clips, the best thing i can do is recommend listening to opeth's deliverance. They use PRS's with the full shreds through triple recs... you can really hear the difference when they palm mute because it doesnt have that thump in bass like a JB does. If you want to hear the cleans, the damnation album is all through the neck full shred. If you cant find anything from them, pm me.

I SAY : ask MJ at the custom Shop to make a Full Shred bit with a little more Bass for you. it will reach your expectations. i guess.
it will be the ultimate bridge tone for Yah.

First of all I thought opeth were endorsed by Laney amplifiers. Secondly the guitars on deliverance are very brutal with plenty of low end. I was actually suprised to learn they used the full shred by looking at the frequency specs on the seymour page.

yea JP, i would go to MJ for it, but i dont have the money for that at the moment unfortunately.

about them sounding brutal... brutal is good... it's very good :D

if you can get around to making a couple of clips prophet.. have you got access to a JB equipped guitar? maybe do a comparrison, if it's not too much to ask.

ranalli i dont care if he has the same setup as me or not.. i doubt anyone can have this ****ty setup that i got right now. i just want a 'live' if you must, sample of what the full shred is able, nothing more, nothing less
