Full shred

Anyone know anything about the full shred/ distortion, clean channel, sustain, pinch harmonics, noise, feedback, ect.. Im thinkin about gettin one for my fat strat bridge and i wanta make sure it can crutch down to stuff like metallica/ panterra while screaming sustaining solos like zack wylde/randy rhoads. If not maybe your could name a few pickup that do.

Can you tell us the body wood type, fingerboard wood and overall natural tone of the guitar first. It'd help to figure out which of those pickups would work best.

Its a squier fat strat, Specifications: http://www.squierguitars.com/gear/show_specs.php?product=0321700&feature_id=0:1 The guitar has the high sparkley sound fender is known for.

I have used the Full shred in many guitars and it has sounded good in them all. It will do what you want. It even did it for me in a plywood Kramer Baretta copy. Its a great pickup and it is very underated. The full shred gets some of the best harmonics out of it than about any other pickup I have tried. Very crunchy and clear at the same rate. Very tight and focused also.

I have used the Full shred in many guitars and it has sounded good in them all. It will do what you want. It even did it for me in a plywood Kramer Baretta copy. Tis true ... however I found it fits certain guitars more than others ... I've found overly bright guitars don't get as much bass as I'd like when using the Full Shred ... of course a closed back cabinet works for that

But I've found with the right equipment the Full Shred enters the territory of the EMG 81 ... but with a more airy and lively quality.

I have to agree with this. I find that the FS sounds just as tight and can scream just as well as my EMG 85 but is much more complex and lets the character of the guitar shine much more than do EMG's.

Personally, I prefer the FS in ash wooded strats...ok, I know that sounds like bright city, but believe me it sounds awesome. You can really cut through a thick mix with the FS in the right guitar EQ'd the right way.

Also, I've never found a pickup, EMG's included, that can sound so aggressive and yet sounds SO CLEAN when picking, even with heavy distortion. I'm gassing to try a neck version.

BTW, I think the FSb also sounds amazing when clean-very pristine and a little compressed, but without the mud I find with a lot of humbuckers designed to be 'high output' (which the FS is not).
