Fulltone '69

I just got a Fulltone '69 pedal and I like it alot. Real smooth and organic.

Problem is my Godlyke Power All won't power it with my other pedals.

I was thinking of using a spare boss adapter with the Reverse Polarity (tip positive) Godlyke adapter.

Will this work or will I fry my 69?

I think it should work because the Godlyke will power the 69 with the reverse polarity (positive tip) adapter. It just doesn't work when I connect my AC booster in the same chain.

Thanks

My Fulltone '69 is the best Fuzzface clone I've ever owned...but it sounds best with an old style carbon 9 volt battery.

Doesn't sound as good with a battery eliminator.

Thanks. I may wind up running it on battery power, but it's third in my chain and I don't like having to remember to disconnect the input cable.

The power option is so much easier for a pedal board. Too bad it doesn't have an on/off switch.

So far, I'm getting a nice fuzzy edge of distortion tone from a clean amp with my strat and the 69. I love how it cleans up when I roll down the volume on my strat. Roll off a little volume and I get a nice old fender amp tone on the edge of distortion. Very nice for chords.

That tone alone is worth it for me. And from what I understand the 69 is capable of much more. Looking forward to messing with it some more.

I believed that it's modeled after the old Jordan Bosstone - But I have been fooled before...

Below (photos #1 and #2) are pics of some original Newmarket NKT275 Germanium transistors from a 1967 Arbiter Fuzzface pedal. Note the Gray Base material (photo #2), Red Dot, and almost handwritten quality to the ID-stamp. Some effects makers are claiming that they offer “NOS” (new old stock) NKT275 transistors, and I’ve found this to simply not be true in all that I‘ve seen. The forgery NKT’s that I’ve sampled sounded horrendous, with HFE ratings (gain) up around 150 to 250, which is 2 to 4 times that of the real NKT’s, resulting in a thick muddy sound devoid of sparkle and not cleaning up when the guitar’s volume knob is backed-off.

I have always used custom-made Germanium transistors, but do not claim these to be New Old Stock, and have been doing this long enough to know the difference between real and fake, between good and bad transistors.

Just get a Fulltone FPS-2 to power it. You can buy them new for $20-$25 on ebay or direct from a dealer. I had the same problem trying to power my Soul Bender and Octafuzz as all my other pedals use the Godlyke Powerall negative tip power supply. I bought one FPS-2 adapter and it powers both pedals by using another Godlyke daisy chain cable.

Thanks. I was thinking about just using the boss with the adaptor (positive tip) just for the 69 but I can't bring myself to try it without knowing it's OK. For now I'll just put it first in the chain and run it with batteries and look at getting the Fulltone adapto.r
