Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

Way worth the money. This is not another Tube Screamer clone as other claim to be. This thing not only have true bypass but sounds super transparent, so much that there are times I don't even know it's on. The mosfet thing is NOT a gimmick, it does exactly what the description say it does. I think where the cream lies with this pedal is it's compcut (clean boost) mode. It's the only way to make you class A amp have switchable channels. With the compcut, I can switch from a near breakup to full on distortion with my amp. My amp is a 20 watt el84 single channel amp a friend built for me based on a circuit design he's been tweaking around with. If you can afford it, and need a good pedal for your high end amp/guitar setup. This is it! I've tried out other pedals including H.B.Es, Jekyll and Hyde, Bonzai Fireball, and other boutique pedal. This was the only one that didn't add any unwanted hiss or buzz or color the amp or guitar in any way. This is a keeper!

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

I used a FD2 for 2 years thru small fenders and loved it.

Now how is the Mosfet different in feel and tone?

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

Everybody claims to beat Fulltone, but very very few of them actually can.
It's not hype.....Fulltone pedals are worth every penny you pay for them.
I'd love to have every pedal they ever made.....including the Tube Tape Echo!

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

man I noticed the black crowes were using the fulltone tape echoes live...those things sounded GOOD...of course through Roccaforte and Harry Joyce amps, it's hard to make anything sound bad!

They are completely different animals...Gearjhoneser can tell you more but just know that they are completely different units.

BTW...all this Fulltone talk is making me want some!

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

Is there any big differences between the Mosfet and the normal FDII? And how does an OCD compare?

Even Chris is using one now too along with his SF Twin!

I'd love to try one...but $1000 for a pedal, no matter how good seems steep. Heck I don't know how quick I'd be to spend $1000 on an AMP!!

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

I can attest - Hot Plate, Vintage Marshall and and OCD - PURE TONAL NIRVANA! Sounds like God, and you don't have to hack up a Marshall.

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

The mosfet makes the distortion smoother and gives it a more warm sound, very very tube like. But it does loose some clarity and definition than the standard mode, eventhough in mosfet mode, it's still more articulate than most other pedals.

For price/feature/performance ratio, I choose fulldrive :bigthumb:

I've tried a klon centaur a friend had, sounded killer, but can't justify buying such a thing for my cheapass rig.....

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

How would this pedal work thru a Fender DRRI? I'm still looking for the right OD pedal for my amp and have'nt found it yet. So far everything I've tried is either too middy (and you can't dial it out either), too fuzzy, not clear enough and there's always a serious lack of bass.

What I'd like to find is a pedal for those "Marshall moments." I know that no pedal is going to sound just like a Marshall and I'm not expecting it to.

The Klon sounds like you bumped up the gain or volume on your amp, and somehow enriches the sound so it feels better under your fingers. That's why they cost so much....the circuit is just about as perfect as humanly possible.

The Fulldrives kind of pick up where Tubescreamers leave off. The midspike isn't harsh, the bass is full, and the highs cut through the mix nicely. Then, the additional gain channel can either be set a little dirtier than the 1st ch. or it can be cranked up high for a fuzzier highgain. I like the Fulldrives, but sold the early orange one I had, and also another blue one. I was just sifting through good OD's, and stopped at the Klon. I've been debating whether to get a white or metallic orange FDII, or maybe an OCD......or the SFX-3 They're different enough from the Klon in a good way, to warrant getting another one.

I've never had a fuzzy moment with this pedal, the clarity is amazing although sometimes in boost mode it does start to get hazy. People have said that this pedal is a TS without the mid range hump. The mosfet switch in vintage mode will get you a very convincing marshall tone (Vintage mode adds back the mids) considering that you're using the right tubes and eq in your amp.

^100% correct as always. I think the OCD have more harmonic complexity to it's distortion, if they turn the OCD into a fulldrive kinda thing, I won't mind shelling out $400 for it.

Re: Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Edition!

They should come out with the VOCD...the Very Obsessive Compulsive Distortion. A dual mode OCD would be killer.
