Fulltone Ocd Clip

Okay guys earlier this week I recorded a short clip with my ocd pedal. I work fairly long days so I threw down a quick take late at night, thought it sounded fairly decent so I posted it. Next morning I gave it a listen and really didn't like it at all so I deleted it. Later in the day I get a pm from Simon (one of our administrators) turns out he can see deleted threads and has been thinking about getting an OCD. Simon liked the track and he suggested I post it. I relistened to the track and honestly don't feel comfortable posting it, tone just isn't to my liking. So I decided to do another, picked a different guitar, different tune, different amp setting. I like this one better. As with all my tracks I usually just record my first or second take, they seldom get better.
I got the OCD about a month ago and really dig this little thing.

McCarty soapbar (p-90's-not stock)>OCD>Vox style pre-amp>El-84's

Amp was set totally clean, all OD provided by the pedal. Starts out with the neck pu, then both, then bridge.

Tasty, I like how you opened up your playing from the bridge p/up switch in the 2nd half :).

Man, shades of Beatles w/Clapton ala While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Love that tone. Love the chops. May I suggest you post more tunes?

Thanks! Near the end it is more like My Guitar Screams, must of had some built up tension that day:) . Never sure how my clips will go over. I've been playing for so long that my playing sounds like my playing, so it is hard for me to evaluate it, sounds kind of 'same old sound' to me. My style is less polished and technical than many of the great players that post here. Usually I just throw down 1 or two takes and take the best, leaving in the odd rough spot or two. Problem is then when I listen back I get over critical and don't feel comfortable posting them.

Nice tone and more importantly, nice playing man.

Do you have any other PRS's?

Thanks! I am kind of a PRS guy. Currently I have 4. The IRW McCarty Soapbar I used on this clip, a Santana 1 (in the avatar), a brazilian rosewood Santana, and a hollowbody II. I just love the feel of the wide fat necks and they are kind of nice to look at too.

+1

I like the way you fill the song with sustain, rather than a barrage of notes. Very smooth-great tone!

What Dave said! +!
Many players throw way too many notes into a solo. They blast you so much, your brain can't register anything except the speed. You have to leave room between some of the notes for the melody to sink in. It has to do with soul. Al.C has it.

Too kind. All this time I thought it was just short, fat, slow, fingers:) :) . Trust me if I could play fast I probably would. We are having a rainy day in the desert today and I was thinking of trying to record something new but now I am thinking I better stop while I am ahead:D .

Re: Fulltone Ocd Clip

That was exceptionally tasty! Great playing and it goes to show how nice the OCD really is.
