Fulltone OCD vs Keeley BD2

I am wanting to get a new pedal and I am really torn between these to units. Every soundclip of the OCD sounds great. Very touch sensitive and has a great range of tone. I owned a stock BD2 years ago, and it was a great pedal too. I have heard that the Keeley mod is WAY smoother and even more transparent.

I am running a Peavey XXX head thru an AVATAR 2x12 with V30's and want something that can give this head a great bluesy tone and still keep my sound nice and beefy (not thin sounding and preserves the low end). Something that can do SRV to that wonderful gritty tone from Vertical Horizon and Matchbox 20.

Anyone know which of these pedals may work best for what I want??

I don't know why but I like the Keeley BD2. It just sounds good and enough transparency to add to any already great amp. Man if you're thinking of a great OD pedal you really really need to check into a Maxon OD820.

I don't have any experience with the BD2 or Keeley mods, but the OCD does not really do SRV, and it's not "gritty".

Re: Fulltone OCD vs Keeley BD2

Two very different pedals. The Keeley BD-2 is more of a gritty boost, while the OCD is a smooth drive that has more gain.

Re: Fulltone OCD vs Keeley BD2

I use them both... I keep the OCD cleaner... and use the BD-2 for fatter, heavier things.
But saying that... I use the OCD more.

Re: Fulltone OCD vs Keeley BD2

I do have the OCD, but I don't like it a lot. I much prefer a Keeley TS9 mod plus, when a need a gritty overdriven sound. That's weird, but I almost only use the ocd when playing new country, with just a touch of drive: it gives me that slightly dirty clean sound that we hear today in country music.
But I don't like it for anything else. I'd suggest a good TS9 type pedal, or the keeley BD2, that I've never tried though.
