Garageband on the macbook?

Re: Garageband on the macbook?

Some sort of interface to interact with your MacBook.

Line6 makes a TonePort that's pretty cool if you want a ton of tones and don't mind going direct. If you like what tones you have at this moment, you could look at a Firewire or USB audio interface (you can either go direct into them and use Garageband for tones or use a mic and mic up your amp the classic way). I used a Tascam US-122 for a while until I finally chalked up the cash for an Apogee Ensemble.

Garageband is ridiculously easy to use. Once you download drivers for whatever interface you're using, you just go into preferences and under the Audio/Midi tab, you can choose your "Audio In" where you'll find your interface device.

Re: Garageband on the macbook?

While the TonePort is pretty cool (it brings POD sounds to your computer) I don't think you need anything to start using GarageBand. Use the audio in to connect directly and GarageBand does the rest. You can get a guitar cable with a 1/8th " (?) connection on one end and you're done.

Re: Garageband on the macbook?

i don't need anything too complex yet...i just want something to record stuff i write when i write it and have it saved and available to send to other people and post and etc...more than likely it will all be acoustic and vocals

Re: Garageband on the macbook?

I'm gonna get that little toneport Gx.

But you can go direct with an adapter for 1/4 inch to 1/8 for the audio in.

apple really makes it simple, you can literally just get the cable gamera suggested and start recording right away
