GAS for a maple fretboard guitar - Opinions needed

Hi everyone.

I have really bad GAS for a new, maple fretboard guitar.

Since I don't really do gigs or objectively need a new guitar, I don't want to spend much money.

I have constrained my decision to the following options:

Fender Lite Ash Strat - 469 euro
I love the look of these and have been GASing for a real Strat for a while.
Problem is, I already have a hard ash strat copy, so wouldn't be a big change.

Fender Lite Ash Tele - 444 euro
Also love the look and I never owned a Tele.

Squier Custom II Tele (P90) - 255 euro
Same as above, plus I would like to have a P90 guitar.

Please, share your opinions about these models (and only about these).

If I remember correctly, I played a Lite Ash strat. The one I played in the store had a birdseye maple f/board, and was loaded with Duncans. Solid guitar, IMO, could have been a bit more resonant, but I'm sure if you played one or two you could find a really nice one.

Just read the Tele bit. I say if you already have a Strat, go for the Tele. I don't think the Squier's worth it.

I LOVED a lite ash strat that i played in my local store this summer. If i ever get a fender, it will be between the lite ash and the 70's strat in natural w/white pickguard and maple neck. I suggest looking at either of those.

I'd say avoid the Squier... for about the same price as the Lite Ash tele you could get a Mexican standard or 50s classic Tele, both of which are cool. Or maybe a used Japanese one, those are very nice. From what I've read here and on the TDPRI forum, opinions seem to be divided regarding Lite Ash Teles. I personally don't much like the fretboard inlays, but that's a question of taste. I'd actually advise you to try a few of each out in stores and then buy one on Ebay ; new and used prices in Germany or the UK seem better than in France, and shipping isn't too expensive.

Thanks.

I am looking the prices at www.thomann.de, which I find to be a good online store (German).

In France it's way too expensive.

Any other comments? Owners?

Unless you've got a specific need for the strat or want to try something completely different, I'd say go with the tele. It'll give you some nice versatility. My choice would be the Fender.

If you want to mix it up, jump on the Light Ash Tele. Very nice production model from Fender. It'll give you a little more variety in your collection, and you can never go wrong with a Tele.

I'd try to play some examples, as well. A Tele can be difficult to get used to at first, but is a thing of beauty once you get acclimated.

Thanks guys... You gave me the last dose of GAS I needed to buy this Lite Ash Tele.

Does the neck have a satin finish or is it glossy?

B-Bent, why did you put the Hot Rails there?

Satin......the HR is what I wanted for this guitar plain and simple. I will put the stock bridge pup in my FlamKaster when I finish it up one of these days. I am just telling you........ I have not touched another guitar since I got this light ash man it's killer.

Oh Thank you very much!!! Now I'm gasing again for a tele. I managed to calm down myself for a while, but now... Tabernacle! By the way, I'd quite like to try one fo these lite ash tele, looks cool, and with duncans I'm sure it sounds great as well.

:offtopic: Sorry about that but, What kind of rail do you have in your esquire B bent? How does it sounds? Can you split it?

Thanks guys, but I learned today about a trip I'll make and I will need to buy a laptop... No money for the Tele...
For now I will only get my GAS growing...
