GAS has been released!

Hey guys,

As you may know, I've been GASin' for a new strat for a while, and I fianlly scored a sweet deal on a new Fender American Deluxe Strat in HSS!!! I thought my MIM strat played nice, but this guitar blows it away! It is super easy to play and the thing drips with tone... it practially plays by itself, all you need to do is hold it...

Anyways, I noticed the deluxe doesn't have string trees. Is there a reason for this? Would this new axe benefit by adding 1 or 2 string trees? I'd hate to put a hole in that virgin headstock.

BTW, how many guitars is too much? Look at my sig. I'm up to about 10 guitars I play regularly. Who here has got the most? Will I ever have 'enough'?

Anyways, sorry for the rambling post. I'm so psyched by this guitar. I can't wait 'til I can play her again...

Congrats on your new baby! As far as i know why the American Series Strats don't have String trees is because the tuning posts are "Staggered". Did you check if yours are like this?

It doesn't need 'em. You have locking tuners and an LSR nut on there instead.

Congrats on your new axe. So what do you think of those SCN single coils on there? Aren't they the shizznit! That DH-1 'bucker could use a little work although in conjunction with the S-1 settings you can get some killer sounds with it. My favorite settings:

S-1 off (up) neck. Great, hot, vintage Strat scream!

S-1 on (down) bridge. Nice EVH-like tone and harmonics.

S-1 on (down) middle, all 3 pups on. Great, heavy, Neil Young LP-ish wall of tone.

I really dig the different settings I get too.

My fav is pos 1 (neck) and pos 2 (neck and mid) with the switch down. It has a really unique out of phase sound.

I can't get over the tone of those SCN pups either. I thought for sure they'd have to be replaced, but I really dig the tone now. Its not very strat like, but uniquely different with a mellow tone. Just hit any note and the guitar sings on its own...

Get one, dude. You won't regret it. It doesn't sound like a regular Fender and it doesn't sound like anything else. Its also a sweet guitar to play. The "feel" is so dramatically different from my MIM strat. I thought all the hype about American strats being better than MIM strats was just bull to justify the higher cost, but boy was I wrong... and I like the way my MIM strat plays, and this was still way better.

Yea. Americans are the shiz. I dont see myself ever having that many guitars though, Id at the most have 3 or 4 for different purposes, alot of yours are kinda the same sorta thing. nothing wrong with that i guess if you have the money.
