I'm seriously GASing for those Fender Showmaster Flat Head axes. I played the Strat at the local shop last night, and it was perfect! They didn't have the Tele in, but I can't imagine it being any different.
The thing about it though, is that I found the neck more comfortable than most Gibson's I tried that night. Before I scoffed at the idea of Fender necks, but that's just because I never bothered playing anything other than the 24.75" extremely chunky Gibson-style necks. Well, with the Tele I've got, the Fender style necks just suit me a lot better.
But enough of that, the sound was impeccable. The active EMG's provide such a nice crunch, with great palm-mutes. The shop is pretty slack about tunings, as long as you put it back to Standard when you're finished, so whatever. I tuned down to Standard D, and holy %$#&! MONSTROUS! It's too bad I didn't have $1,500 to drop on it.. Maybe I'll just Warmoth it and get it cheaper.
Oh well, the bottom line is.. The Fender Showmaster Flat Head series axes are brutal metal machines! Definitely on my "Must Buy" list!
