Hey there to anyone who might remember me,
After about 6 years of looking for good tone, I've found it. I'm perfectly happy with the sound that comes out of my amps. Problem is, now that I've got the tone down, I want to get my songs recorded, and I hardly know the first thing about it.
My situtation is this: I'm a college student who plays guitar, bass, sings a bit, and is presently in a rock band. We've got plenty of material, but need to get some demos going on, and later possibly some EP's or whatever. The only things I own as far as recording are the Shure SM-57, SH55 Series II, and some crappy free vocal mic i got from sam-ash. So first thing I need is some mics to record the bass-amp and the drums.
Beyond that, I need a platform to record on. I've been thinking about getting something like one of the Roland VS Digital Studio Workstation things; any thoughts on the merits and demerits of those compared to recording software, or the specific DSW's that are best?
I know this is incredibly broad, but I'm in need of a broad range of advice to get done what I'd like to get done.
