Getting an empty cab (speaker suggestions)

Well I decided after a while to step up and get an electric amp 4x12 cab empty. Which Eminence or Celestion speakers should I get? I play a variety of stuff from all out metal to stoner rock to blues to rock and maybe a little jazz. Any suggestions would be greatley suggested!

Niether - cost ya more - but you would have a heavy but rockin' cab with 4 EVM12L's - they just re-released these with Zach Wylde's name attached...I have one in my Mesa Mark IV combo and it is amazing...

The speakers I have in my 2x12 ore Mojotone BVH30's they are great! You can get them from: http://www.mojotone.com

Screw the Zakk ones... 300 a piece and they weigh a ****ing ton!

I'd say try out as many cabs with as many speakers as you can, and tell us what you like/dislike about each. We can guide you from there! I like V30's, some people hate them... some people love V12's, I hate them... it's all personal preference, like pickups.

Re: Getting an empty cab (speaker suggestions)

There many, many techs and anmp builders out there who believe the EVM12L is the best speaker ever bulit for rock - I used two in two Mesa Combos for years giging and they are awesome - but, they didn't cost $300 back then though, and the one I have now I got used for $150 on eBay....

I agree about personal preference though...everyone's ear is different. Good idea to listen to several different types of speakers if you can to find the one you like...

No doubt they sound awesome, I know they do, but I don't believe they're worth the price at all. I'd rather pick up a used original than the Zakk one, too.

My experimenting with different speakers over the last couple of months has brought me back full circle to Celestions. The Vintage 30 just has something the others don't. Alot of guys mix the Vintage 30's with G12H30's.

Thats what I was originally planning to do, two Vintage 30's on top and two G12H30's on bottom. What my worry though was that the G12h30's might break up too soon. Then again I am only running a 50 watt tube head.

The possibility's or endless. I would suggest 2 Redcoats & 2 Patriots. I have a 2x12 cab w/t a Private Jack & Texas Heat. They seem to complement each other well for a Classic Rock & Blues tone. If I where going for a more Metal sound? I'd pick a different redcoat than the PJ. The Texas Heat is a well balanced speaker for your Blues tones.:)

I have the Celestion G12H30/V30 mix in my Marshall combo, it sounds great- but if I use the V30 by itself, it sounds like it has a blanket on it compared to the G12H30, but together, they are magic, at least for me.
