GFS Pedals

Re: GFS Pedals

The tuner gets a pretty good rep although they say it adds a bit of noise to the chain. They call it the pitchblack killer. :D

Re: GFS Pedals

The GFS line is without any doubt made by Biyang (as you stated in your original post).
Especialy in the case of the flanger, I would without any doubt go for the Biyang FL-8.
It has an extra control pot (manual) compared to the GFS, and will offer all the GFS version does, plus some more, being more versatile because you can fine-tune it more towards your likings on top of it.

I have the Biyang AD-8 Delay and the CH-8 Chorus (actualy they are relabeled Biyangs under the Fame name, but identical except the name), and I am very happy with both of these pedals.
The GFS pedals are made by Biyang and also use the same types and brands of components (like the WIMA caps), so I am pretty convinced these sound good as well, and can be concidered a very good deal as well, but if it was up to me, I'd go with an "original" (weird word here ;) ) Biyang.

Re: GFS Pedals

Hey, if thats all ya can do, why not. I wouldnt really use them myself.
Consider the fact if you sepend maybe a bit more you could get something like a Tweak Fuzz, which is a proven real great pedal in every way.

Re: GFS Pedals

And Eagletone pedals are also rebranded biyang pedals,

Biyang and GFS might give the Dan. Cool Cats Pedals some competition on the lower price pedal market.

I particulary dont care where the pedal is made, as long as it sounds good, inexpensive, and the company who makes it has good quality control on its products,

I've got the Biyang FZ-7 Fuzz on my board. It does both the Big Muff and Fuzzface tones. Very happy with it!

Re: GFS Pedals

I have the GFS Delay and Flanger. Haven't had them all that long to have formed an opionion other than to say they don't suck. I have a board with mostly used Boss and cheaper pedals that I take to jams and they're fine.

Re: GFS Pedals

is the delay digital or analog?

The Biyang AD-8 (Tonefancier series) is a pedal based on BBD chips, it makes use of the MN3007 (1024-BBD chip) and that is steered by a MN3101 chip, this is the model they call 'the double chipset group'. This Biyang AD-8 can be concidered an analog delay because of the use of the MN3007 BBD-chip, note that a chip like the MN3007 is far from cheap!!

Biyang's AD-10 (Babyboom series) makes use of a PT2399 chip, and can be concidered a digital delay that emulates an analog delay.

Can't speak for sure about the GFS pedals since I did not had any in my hands so far to take a look at the components used, but I would not be surprised if the GFS delay had the same design as the Biyang AD-10 from their BabyBoom series, that one uses a PT2399 as it's IC base, and is concidered a digital pedal that emulates an analogue one. But once again I can't really speak for the GFS one because I never had a chance to look at it's PCB and components.

Re: GFS Pedals

Hi, I just registered here to make few things straight.

The Biyang AD-8 Analog Delay is digital, not analog. Just as AD-10 it uses PT2399 chip and not an analog BBD. The picture shown above is not from AD-8, actualy it is not from delay effect at all. The MN3007 BBD as mentioned is 1024 stage BBD, so to reach 1100ms delay of AD-8 you need like 16 of them, which would be insanity. The MN3007 is used primarly in chorus and flanger pedals, they are rather common and you can find them in Biyang CH-7. The costly ones are MN3005 (4096 stages) and MN3008 (2048 stages). In AD-8 case there are actualy 2 of PT2399, first one gives 600ms while the second is engaged for 1100ms mode, hence effect is marked as dual chip.

Re: GFS Pedals

It doesnt matter if it is old (actualy I dont find 3 months as old at all), if someone is searching for informations regarding those pedals. What if you really wanted an analog delay, found this thread by either forum search engine or google, and bought Biyang just to find out that you were misleaded? Im sorry, but Im not ok with that.

Re: GFS Pedals

Ok, good to hear you are principled. Just thought correcting a thread about seldom discussed cheap pedals was an odd reason to join a forum.

But, anyway, welcome and sorry to be a pain.

Welcome aboard and thanks for the correction.
Just to put it clear: it was never my intention to mislead anybody at all, I found that picture on the official Biyang website labeled as the guts of an AD-8, saw the MN3007 (not common in delays, but can be used in delay units), recognized it as a BBD, and posted it here in reply.
You surely are right about people deserving to receive information as accurate as possible, so thx again for the correction!

Re: GFS Pedals

Thanks for welcome everyone, its nice to be here.

On side note I once called polish distributor of Biyang effects to ask about Behringer VD400 which they also sold and is actual analog. Since they didnt have them in stock I was proposed with AD-10 and they kept insisting about it being analog. After some talk about insides it turned out that they only knew what was written on flyer. Good thing we have Internet.

Maybe it's odd to have a guy make a stupid comment about someone joining. I mean, who are you anyways????
