Gibson 57 classic magnet swap?

I have a gibson 57 classic in the neck of my Epiphone sg pared with a super distortion In the bridge. To me the 57 sounds great clean but really muds up with gain. I have RCA5 and a polished a5 magnets, how and what would these sound like compared to the a2. Thanks!

Re: Gibson 57 classic magnet swap?

An UOA5 will have a little more treble, but otherwise be similar to the stock A2. An A5 will clean up a lot of the mud, give a sharper high-end, less mids, a firmer bass, and more output. It seems that Gibson puts '57's in just about everything, but they're really just a middle-of-the pack PAF, nothing to get excited about, and there's many better available today. I don't think they're wound right for a warm magnet.
