Does anyone know where I can find parts for a 60's model Byrdland. An older friend of mine got his out the other day and it is a nightmare. When he put it away he said he sprayed it with some furniture polish (God no!!!) and wiped it down then put it in its case. I don't know how long ago this was but the pick gaurd has, for lack of a better word "crystalized" and the Gold cover humbuckers have a green tint to them that he said won't come off. I haven't gotten the guitar in hand yet but I can always take the humbuckers out and store them (at this point I am assuming they are early patent number) and make a new pickgaurd. I would however like to buy a premade pickgaurd if not an original. I may beable to clean the pickups with some napatha but if not can I get Antiquities in Gold cover? Apparently the gutiar still sounds great but he won't play it in public because of the way it looks. Please help me help him.

Original parts may be hard to track down and will cost you. If you can't get a pickguard from Gibson I'm sure you can get a repro made from one of the online parts sources from a tracing.

You can get Antiquities in gold.

Check George Gruhn's website. He maybe able to steer you in the right direction. Also, Cris Mirabella here on Long Island does beautiful reproductions of the old pickguards. He also makes all the pickguards for Gibson's BB King 335 model. www.mirabellaguitars.com

Thanks alot guys. I'll check Gibson (hadn't yet, doubted they would have it.) and keep an Eye out for the pick guard. As for the Pickups I'd like to get them cleaned up but if all else fails its good to know I can get Antiquities.
