Gibson ceramic cap wanted

I am on a quest to find a set of these cermic disc caps (see attached picture).
I know all you guys will say don't bother with ceramic disc caps but for my own silly and frankly anal reasons I really need 2 of these exact caps.
So have exactly the same thing printed on them.
They come stock in a number of different Gibsons.
I was wondering if anybody out there has got a Gibson that had these exact caps in and have swapped em out for better caps and might have them lying around in your spares draw.
If anybody out there does have a set of these exact caps please contact me.
Can buy or do a swap or something.
Its driving me crazy trying to find em.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

those are standard ceramic caps made by bc components available from any store carrying electronic components. The 223 means that it is a value of 22n.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

brown note - yes they are bc components caps. If you know of any stores that carry this perticular cap please let me know. I can't seem to find any where on the net that stocks these exact caps made by bc components with these values

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

Any vishay ceramic cap is likely to be the same. digikey carries them, but buying a one cap online seems a bit of a waste of money. Your city is bound to have atleast one store that carries electronic components and vishay is one of the largest supplier thus they are the most common types.

EDIT: Vishay=BC and the most common ceramics are of 50V

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

I've swapped a number of those type caps out of my Gibsons. I'll look & see if I still have them, or if they got circular-filed.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

lemonman if you have some of these exact caps that would be awesome. They have to be exactly the same as in the picture though and not just have 223 printed on them like some of my other ones from my les pauls. Exactly the same. Its so silly of me I know I think I must have some mental problems LOL. Well trying to find these is making me mental ha ha.

John E Rokker I have emailed the guys you have suggested so I will see if they come back with any thing as well.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

Well I'm kinda the same way.. Almost every guitar I own is mahogany bodied, maple topped, have a mahogany neck, and have either rosewood or ebony boards. And in all of those guitars I refuse to use different pickup combos. I have millions of pickups I dont use now because of whenever I find a better combo I end up slapping it in all of those guitars. The only guitars that are different are my Mockingbird which has a maple neck through neck and I have different pot values to make up for the fact the neck is maple. Then theres my Teles but I keep those really bright and twangy because they are Telecasters and would never want them to sound like a Les Paul. In the end I'm a little like you but in a different way I guess so I feel ya haha.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

All the ones I have which are all off Gibsons exclusively only have 223 printed on them. If I had ones like the pic I was about to post them to you free. I have a mental illness to, not just GAS, but a psychiatric one. I understand your need to have those caps perfectly. Good luck

Well, looks like OCD in this forum is rampant!

To the OP: I can understand OCD, but those caps are one of the worst sounding pieces of unholy crap ever existed... to be exposed to a guitar containing those could lead to permanent hearing loss and physical pain.

Please, in the name of everything that's Holy, SOMEBODY STOP THIS MAN FROM HURTING HIMSELF AND ALL OTHERS AROUND HIM!!!!!

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

Other than restoring a particular guitar, there is no reason to get the exact cap. Besides, these caps have a 20% +/- tolerance (slop) to them.

Other than that, I wish you best. :)

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

Any electronic store should have ceramic disk capacitors or poly film for that matter. I would go to orange drops or PIO, but that's me.

Re: Gibson ceramic cap wanted

I'll clip mine out of my new (old) studio and I can send them to you.

I assume they're the same value.
