Re: Gibson faded Les Paul standard
Most def the best faded I've seen yet, TC...most are ugly as sin. That said every single one I've handled has had phenomenal tone and playability. The (lack of) finish really DOES make for a a nice tone.
Helluva good price too.
The BB Pros are....weird...one day they sound fantastic the next...meh....although they are articulate under high gain they get pretty sterile/harsh sounding when subjected to it...it's like they take on an entirely different character when pushing them past a certain point...very sensitive..with lower gain and clean tones they are quite nice..push them up into 80s metal, and they sound awful.....at least mine do.
I was playing my LP Std today (with BB pros) against my FireBird (490R/498T), and the 498 kicked the BB pro's ass in clarity and fat PAF type sound......very classic! And I know mos people hate the 498...I think the Gibson pups are jes really spotty for QC...some sound great..some sound like @ $$
