I think the wine red one looks pretty good, but I'd still never buy them. Seems like it's a just a ploy to milk some money out of a legends name now that he's no longer around to stop it

They are coming out with the EPI model soon. They will be about 1/2 the price and they are bound. But they use a photo flame.

Could be interesting! At least there wont be the Epi headstock that everyone finds so offensive.. haha

Yeah, I saw these the other day in a mailer I got from Sweetwater.. I thought Oh lord... They are pretty, but way too pricey AND, they have as much to do with Les Paul and the Les Paul guitar as a trailer hitch.. Well, I digress, Les did use speakers..

A grand isn't crazy overpriced for a good set of monitors. I kinda think the veneer on the front looks like **** though.

Eh, there's a difference between a popular shape that's played by multiple living players (like Les Pauls) and putting a dead guy's FACE and name on the guitar.

I love the guitars and such, I just feel a bit uneasy when I see the advertisements whoring out photos of Randy.

They have been but this is the internet, where blindly bashing Gibson never gets old....

I'm not bashing Gibson. Just poking fun at the marketing. I see a smart phone, shaped like a Marshall stack, in our future.
(Come to think of it, they already have the 'fridge.)

A grand isn't crazy overpriced for a good set of monitors.

But they're a grand each! Are these things really going to be that much better than, say, a pair of Rokit 8's, at $500 for the pair. Or my Definitive Technology Studio 450's, which were about $250 for the pair. (That was a blow-out price, of course.)

Still, if they make MF's STOTD, @ $250/pr, I might try them.

Rokit's are servicable but they're not great monitors by any stretch of the imagination. For the price I'd expect these from Gibson to be hanging out with the mid priced Genelec, Dynaudio, or Adam stuff. If they only perform as well as the bargain basement stuff I can't see too many people buying them.
