Gibson Pink Stuff?

I just picked up a used Explorer and have been cleaning it up. I removed all the electronics and hardware and noticed a pinkish saw dust like substance in the pickup cavities of the guitar. It was pretty stuck on but still on top of the finish. Anyone know what this is?

Buffing compound is my guess.

Probably the pink fur in the case was shedding.
