Gibson Replacement Tuners

My Gibson has these tuners (excuse the flash - I was trying to help someone looking into the "Made In USA" stamping):

I was considering going nickel with everything, but I can't find tuners like these (no tab and set screw). Anyone have an idea where to get replacements or what to call these when looking for replacements? Everything I come across has the tab and set screw and I'd rather not drill holes in the peghead if I can avoid it.

Tuners like those without the set screw generally have an alignment pin that is hidden underneath the housing. Stock Fenders have two pins, some tuners have one centered pin. I would recommend taking one tuner off to see what the situation is with those. When you know where the pins are located, you'll know what to buy for a re-drill free fit.

I should have been more specific. I've replaced tuners before and I'm familiar with the pins, etc. These are like the ones in this auction, single pin, no set screw. The problem I'm having is in finding a nickel replacement set as all the replacement tuners I'm finding have the set screw rather than (or maybe in addition to) the pin. Thanks.

There are a few manufacturers out there who make single pin, 3 per side tuners. Are you looking to stick with the Gibson brand name?

EDIT: If you don't care about using OEM parts, Sperzel makes some single pin, 3 per side, locking or non-locking tuners in nickel.

Completely unconcerned about having something labeled "Gibson" on there.

Or, using 0000 steel wool, you can remove the gold plating and be left with a nice nickel finish.

I was going to say this too - just remove the gold. I was thinking a dremel with a buffing pad.

Glad to help...the gold will buff off as well, I hadn't even thought of that. That's clearly the cheaper option, although you may want to leave the originals as they are in case you change your mind...
