Gibson SG bridge pickup

Have a 2007 Gibson SG with the stock Gibson pickups
Bridge reads 7.85
Playing on the bridge pickup, with gain,
The wound strings sound fantastic
The unwound strings sound extremely trebly and thin
What pickup would change this unwound string screech yet keep the wound strings close to it is now

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

change the volume pot to 250k first. itll thicken up the unwound strings but wont change the wound ones too much

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

I've been dying for someone to try the Whole Lotta Humbucker set so they can talk me into buying them for my Les Paul..

That's my suggestion.. I bet them would sound badass in your SG..

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

a bunch of us have the wlh set. great pups! i love the neck pup and the bridge is really good too

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

Try lowering the pickup on the plain string side and drop the screws down too. A lot of rasp comes from the pickup being too high.

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

Ive had a custom and the custom custom in the bridge of my sg standard. The CC thickens the high notes up nicely.
However i reckon the WLH set would be even better. I have a set in my main axe (335) but i have not tried them in an SG, but seeing as i use both the 335 and the sg at a lot of gigs i reckon i have a pretty good idea about what would work in the sg.

Re: Gibson SG bridge pickup

Tried the following pickups:
Duncan 59
Seth
Custom
Jb
Duncan Distortion
also tried going 250K on the pot by using a 500K resister jumper
Going with the 500K pot and the Distortion, the wound strings still have excellent definition, the unwound strings now sing.
