Gimme Shelter

Classic intro, but everywhere i go to find a tab has exactly the same thing. It's almost unlearnable from that tab - it doesnt sound at all right. Most people say that you have to put your guitar into open B tuning (i think), and then capo to fourth and so on. But does anyone know a really good, surefire way of playing it exactly as Kiethy baby does? If a video is around of how to play it, or maybe a correct tab it would be amazing....

Thanks.

Re: Gimme Shelter

CM, I recently came across a few Keith articles in old guitar mags. According to those articles, the song is in Open E. Not sure about the capo. If you end up stuck I can try to copy it (iirc they have GImme Shelter transcriptions in them).

The 4th fret capo thing is usually when he plays in Open G (Happy and Tumblin' Dice are both like that). You can get a decent approximation of GS in that tuning (minus the capo). There are supposedly some similarities between Open G and E but I have never tried the fingerings in Open E.

You could try going onto Ebay and getting a copy of "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones," which is a film from the Exile tour (72 or 73) that more than likely has it being played.

I hope that helped, even the slightest bit!
