Re: gimme the goods !!!!

I have the 15wt. and so far not much bad to say. I have had it maybe a month now. Plenty of volume and punch even with an 8" speaker. It kills the little Tech 21 TM10 from my vantage point. THe TM10 was farty sounding with anything I consider strong bass levels.

The 70's Marshall models are not the strongest and I have heard better Tweed models but the Dumble models are excellent, the Soldano is fantastic and the DSL and Recto settings are pretty darn good too. Factor in the effects which are pretty good and decent reverb and the price and it it pretty hard to beat.

They mic up well but I haven't run direct out of mine yet to give an opinion on that. They are fun amps and respond to tweaking really well. I don't have footswitch for mine either but I bought it for home and studio use and I haven't found a need for it yet, I may grab it at some point just because I like the amp so much.

Only thing I would like better is the full ToneLab setup instead of the abbreviated set in the lower line.

I got the 30 watt Valvetronix last week and I think it's a really cool amp. After reading Wattage's post a few weeks back, I was going to get the 15 watt one but that thing really cranks out some volume and for home use I think the 30 watt one meets my needs a bit better becuase it has a dial on the back to reduce the power all the way down to .01 watt.

I love the 80's marshall in manual mode. Crank everything, hit the effects by-pass switch and then lower the power to living room volume. That's fun. I'd say for home use both the 15 and 30 watt versions are better than the original 1x12 or 2x12. Easier to get the speakers moving and very natural sounding. I'm getting great speaker break-up at low volume. I even like the 11 factory presets. The nu-metal pre-set with the flanger is alot of fun.

But I would say the reverb on the 15 and 30 watt versions isn't as good as the reverb on the original 1x12 and 2x12 versions. Also, if you use the line-out for recording or to a PA, it kills the internal speaker. The 50 watt has a seperate line out and head phone out and the power control feature. I've been putting a cheap Aiwa mic in front of it to a behringer mixer and out to a tape deck with good results.

I've come up with alot of new ideas from using this as a practice amp. It sounds goods. The AC-30TB is excellent. I'm really enjoying this amp. For the price, it's a steal.

It takes a few days for the speaker to break in and for the tube to break in too. So give it a chance to settle in. It's ideal for home use. :smoker:
