ginormous sings!

Run for your life... or, at least, your ear plugs.

This was a gift for my wife, on our 12th anniversary (March 1st).
I wanted to surprise her.

All recorded "in the box" in Reaper, late nights and daytime while she was out.
My MIM Jazz Bass loaded with SD hand wounds, rhythm guitar on my Agile singlecut.
Piano, percussion (a little shaker) and drums programmed in MIDI.
One pass on the vocal, while she was in the shower. I pitch-corrected like a mofo, but I'm still wobbly.
I'll do it again, or maybe I'll get someone who doesn't need bran flakes and coffee to get things moving.

It's called "Lifetime Love". Don't hate me too much... she likes the syrupy stuff, sometimes.

Re: ginormous sings!

Needs more cowbell ;) but very nice!

You wrote that - right?

Reminds me a little of Donny Hathaway - not the song itself, just the vibe.

Yes, this is a little something I wrote for wifey... our 12th was on the 1st.

Donny? Yeah, I wish.

Re: ginormous sings!

One of the great things about Donny was not only did he write, sing, play and arrange like the genius he was, but he could interpret other people's material.

Not bad at all wish the keys weren't so stiff but not bad at all.

That's what I get for not keeping up my piano skills, and programming MIDI by using the "player piano" editing window.

Re: ginormous sings!

I won't lie, I pictured you as having a deeper singing voice, but that sounds GREAT!! I dig the little shivery vibrato at the end of your lines. Smooth stuff, man!

Re: ginormous sings!

Hey Ginormous! I'm not the best singer in the world but If you were to ask me to give you something to watch out for on your second run recording the vocal track, I'd say try to get a bigger breath when you breath. You know when someone's frightened and they gasp? Like that between phrases and pull in as much air as you can.

You're lucky, you have a nice vocal tone, some people can sing in tune but they sound like a nose is trying to vocalize.
