Give me the rundown on the El Diablo/SLUG combo

I was thinking about putting this combo in a Schecter C1 Plat (with Floyd Rose!) for a friend of mine because he seems the type of guy that would really like this setup. But the problem is I don't want him to spend just south of $400 on CS pickups if they don't deliver. I've played a SLUG before in an RG, but I can't really see how well an El Diablo would work in the neck.

He's got a Randall Thrasher with an RD412-V30 cab and likes basically all types of harder Rock and Metal genres.

Well, they are pretty specific pickups...if his thing is doomy, sludgy metal, then you won't find anything better.

I put my C5 in the neck once and it was just bass. I don't see the virtue of high output in the neck except maybe to balance output wise.

Obviously I haven't tried the El Diablo in the neck but I think something with more cut but still high output might be better like a Demon or Black Winter. Unless you want slop.
