Has anyone ever heard of Global brand guitars? My grandfather, i just discovered, has an old LP Junior copy with a bolt-on neck and a single P-90 that he bought for my dad back in the early 90's. It looks really really old, and actually looks pretty cool. Anyone know anything about these? Where they were made, if its worth fixing?

I remember my dad playing it when i was younger, and its single P-90 sounded very nice from what i can remember. Kinda like to get it up and running again, but i saw that the nut was only being held on by the strings. Don't know how i could fix that

Any insight on this guitar would be appreciated!

Oh, Well. Iv'e been stringing my guitar up with the nut loose for about 9 months now. It stays on once the srings are up to pitch. I was wondering if it noticealby effects tone.?

I am not positive. But I think that Global was the brand name used by either Sears of JC Penney back in the 70's or 80's. I sem to remember my brother having a "Global." However, I bet they were built by some manufacturer who did work for other brands. If it sounds great and plays well, who cares?

Wow.. that's weird. Someone actually brought a Global acoustic into our shop today to get new tuning pegs. I couldn't really tell much about the instrument itself, other than it appeared kind of cheaply made (or it aged rather poorly, one of the two).

I'm sure this guitar is really cheap, i recall that the body is only about an inch and a half thick at the most.... and it really really looks like plywood from the sides, kinda like layers i guess. Still may try to get it going though, something different than my same Fenders all the time :)
