Godin Detour?

I'm thinking about getting one of these, since I've heard good things about Godin guitars, but I have a few concerns. The guitar has a silverleaf maple center, which I know is warmer than hard rock maple, and it has poplar wings. Seems like a bright-sounding guitar. From those with experience with it, just how bright is it? Any ideas on some pickups that'd fatten the tone? I'm thinking maybe Air Zone/Air Norton combo might be good. And, another thing, there isn't a Godin dealer near me. Should I have any concerns about purchasing sight unseen? Thanks, guys.

Re: Godin Detour?

You may not need to . Do you know what comes stock in those? I know many of their guitars have Duncans or Godin relabled Duncans in them that may be just right already .

For what it's worth, I've heard they're made in canada.

I did heavy research and was going to get one but I found this kramer for a steal of a price and didn't get the godin.

I would believe them safe to buy sight un-seen.

I'm not sure. The specs say they're Godin humbuckers. Beyond that, I have no idea, since I can't play one. I'm just going by what I've heard about 'em.

Ya, they're crafted in Canada and assembled here in the States.

They're not that bright, most pickups will work in them. They are brighter than an LG, but that certainly makes sense. It sounds very much like a normal strat eq wise, just more articulate and resonant.

That's good to hear. I think I'll go for it, unless I find a major deal on something else I like.

Thanks a lot, everyone. :)

Re: Godin Detour?

Godin's are great guitars... The Detour is good for the money. Chance you take ordering over the net is you may get a dead sounding one as you can't try it out first... but Godin's quality is great!

I plan on buying another Godin Solidac in the future.... mine has the maple core and poplar wings... But the solidac has the Mahogany neck... It sounds great!!!! that maple body makes the Transducer bridge sound nice and clear... The Godin pickups i enjoy as well.... i will not be changing them... I like them the way they are stock
