Godin Freeway Classic Qn (single coil content)

Hi,

I have a Godin freeway classic with H-S-H configuration. There is no coil tap for the humbuckers in 2 and 4 positions. I want to replace the single coil with a SD SSL-1 for a more vintagey sound.
I am planning to change the humbuckers to coil tap configuration in the future (but for now I will just replace the stock single coil one with SSL-1). In that case, do I buy a normal SSL-1 or one that is reverse wound?
Thanks.

Anyone can answer my question?
Also, is there a whole lot of difference between the SSL-1 and SSL-2 single coil pickup? My local dealer only stocks SSL-2.
Thanks.

Re: Godin Freeway Classic Qn (single coil content)

I'm thinking it splits the coil in the 2 & 4 position. Let me look around as I used to own one of these. Would have kept it if the neck wasn't so thin.

EDIT: Can't find my paperwork. Probably sent it when I sold it. I would recommend emailing Godin. You'll find it the address on their site. They sometimes took a couple of days to answer (one guy did all of their email support), but they ALWAYS answered when ever I had a question.

I have a freeway. I am almost 100% sure that it does split the coil on 2 and 4.

Ok, I emailed them but no reply yet, going down to the guitar store later in the day so can someone advise me here whether I can just plop in a regular single coil or do I have to get a reverse wound version.
Thanks.

Got a reply from Godin. The humbuckers don't split in position 2 and 4. So does this mean I can just get a regular single coil (not reverse wound) and put it in in replacement of the current one?
Thanks.

any single coil (and the RW/RP) would be ok. u may need to reverse the hot and the neutral lead if u'll be out of phase to the humbuckers.
to my Freeway Classic i have put a pair of Lace Hemi humbuckers and a Lace Sensor Burgundy.

Hi, after installing the single coil, I realised that positions 2 and 4 are quite low in volume. Does this mean that the single coil is out of phase with the humbuckers? By hot and neutral lead do you mean the red and black wires coming out of the SD single coil? So I just put the black where the red is and vice-versa to solve the problem?
Thanks!

correct, though i thought the colors of the leads on SSL-1 are black and white. are u sure u don't have set the SSL-1 very low? it's output is vintage and the Godin's stock humbuckers' is hot. listen each pickup on each own before u change the wiring and if the output level sounds about the same and the notch positions still have very low output, then u can rewire.
