I like the ones like mine, that have that medium dark honey color....kind of in between the lightest and darkest ones. I'd choose a lightback over the dark, though.

I've noticed that some goldtops are more sandy colored, and some are a more yellow bullion gold shade.

I like a darkback.....makes the gold top really stand out.

Lightback....all of the recent darkbacks I've seen are so dark you can't see the grain of the mahogany.

You can on mine......and it's a Dillion !!!!

Although the pic doesn't really show it, the back has a nice grain & so does the neck. Almost a transparent stain to it.

hmmm i think i like light backs better. but my plan is one of two things for when i get a gold top...get a light back and add a black stinger to the back of the headstock....or....have the entire back refinished in black! i always thought a black back would look sweet with the gold top!

I came in here planning to say the same thing. A black back would just look too cool with a goldtop IMO. Out of the two choices provided here, I think I like the dark back better.

darkback. and i prefer darker darkbacks but not completely dark with a little bit of grains showing. the goldtop contrasts nicely with the darkback. lightbacks are good too. as long as its not all gold its ok with me.
