Good SC for spongy stretchy Neck/Middle position tone?

What do you guys think? Bonus points if it's hum cancelling. I have an Area 61 in the neck of my strat right now plus the stock in middle, and it's almost what I crave. But I need it to be slightly less muscular with single notes, and more stretchy for the jimi hendrix chordy type stuff. Right on. I've checked out plenty of dimarzio pickups and not really come across what I want, but have never owned a seymour duncan single coil, so I don't have a great comparison point with those really.

A pure singlecoil sounds like what you are after. You could try the Duncan Ssl1, or the 57/62's from fender. The Duncans will probably be a bit fatter than the Fenders.

Much appreciated! I'm definitely thinking the SSL1 staggered or the Five Two. Would you happen to know which of the two would be more soft and spongy, because I might end up putting one in the middle to mellow out the middle/neck pos. with the Area 61. Because I do like the lead neck sounds I get from that.

ssl1 is not spongy. it is clear and defined.
you need an A2P

After some more research I think you're right. Thanks for that. So I guess ASP-1 vs Five Two (I assume you meant the asp as opposed to a2p) I'm leaning towards the Five Two maybe
