OK, I've decided on the following gear for my home recording setup:
Shure SM-57 + Studio Projects C1 condensor mic into an MBox.
I figure that should be sufficient to get me a clear and great sounding quality recording.
Now, I need some monitors... I'd like some powered ones, as it's more convenient for me (however, if someone wishes to argue strongly against this choice, I'll listen.
)
I don't want to pay more than $400 for two, so again, if they're $500 new but can be found used for $400, that's within the price range.
What's most important is that they're very neutral and flat sounding, so the mixing can be done accurately.
